"Thank you to being my new friend, become a best friend, become a friend who makes me want try to write, especially write this blog.."
Wawwww, kannn...
Kenapa diceritain??
So, Mama Andro..
So pilihan jatuh ke NIRT(National Institute for Research of Tuberculosis), posisinya di Chennai, Merupakan bagian dari ICMR
Dear
Director
National Institute for Research in Tuberculosis (NIRT)
Mayor V.R.Ramanathan Road (Spurtank Road) Chetput
Chennai - 600031.
My name is Yani Mulyani; I am a phd student of School of Pharmacy, Bandung Institute of Technology, the best and the largest technology institute in Indonesia.
Our Government will provide the scholarships for phd students in my country to do an internship abroad in college or research institution for a maximum of 4 (four) months through Sandwich-S3 scholarships Program aimed to gain international activities at colleges abroad or Foreign Affairs Research Institute
I have opened the website of National Institute Tuberculosis Research (NITR), and I am very interested in what NITR have done and published in the research of tuberculosis with some field of specialization was screening lead compounds from plant extracts.
I also have read the standard operation procedure for NITR Mycobacteriology laboratory, Department of Bacteriology, and the paper from Indian Journal of Tuberculosis about the method for isolation, identification, culture, and Drug Supceptibility Test (DST) to M. Tuberculosis using conventional methods and the new generation methods such as BACTEC 460 etc. The method for (DST) to M. Tuberculosis are described at 2003 CLSI standard with BACTEC 960.
The new generation method allows obtaining accurate estimation related to drug resistance in the community mainly from endemic countries such as India and also provides the tools which are reliable for doctor diagnose. Unfortunately, in our country the DST method to against M. Tuberculosis using CLSI standard is not commonly used because it is expensive.
Recently. Tuberculosis in Indonesia is 5th in world. Emergence of multi-drug resistant (MDR) and extensively-drug resistant (XDR) strains of M. Tuberculosis has further complicated the problem of tuberculosis (TB) control. Medicinal plants are a hope for developing alternate medicines for the treatment of TB. Indonesia is one of the few countries in the world which has unique wealth of medicinal plants and vast traditional knowledge of use of herbal medicine for cure of various diseases. My research study was carried out to study antibacterial activity of ethanol extracts from ten plants against susceptible strain M. Tuberculosis H37Rv and MDR isolates of M. Tuberculosis. Plants selection was based on its ethno-medicinal uses in respiratory disorder. Antimicrobial assays were performed in Lowenstein Jensen (L-J) medium (proportion method). Currently, I have been testing the activity of anti-tuberculosis of the ten types of plants and ethanol extract of Petiveria alliacea has anti-tuberculosis activity against M. Tuberculosis H37Rv and two MDR M. Tuberculosis. Similary, fraction and subfraction Petiveria alliacea ethanol extracts also inhibits of bacteria growth compared to standard antimycobacterial drugs. At this time, the research is being proceeded to find a pure compound which is responsible for the activity of anti-tuberculosis. I hope my research will be completed by mid-2012.
Regarding with one of the national missions of NITR which is to share knowledge, I have plan to improve my knowledge and skills with other DST methods based on standard operating procedure for laboratory mycobacterioloy. Furthermore, by this email, if I will receive the government scholarship, I will develop a method by comparing the results of the DST conventional method with a new method. NITR facilities library has large collection of books and scientific journals on different aspects of tuberculosis and other related subjects; it will be very helpful to finish my thesis and to make the papers for International Journal publication.
By accepting me as one of visiting students at the Tuberculosis Research Centre, Department of Bacteriology, would be very beneficial in the development of methods of DST in Indonesia. So, I hope I can discuss with principal investigator in order to improve the quality of my phd Thesis. The period for the scholarship program is on August and December 2012, and the scholarships are provided for a maximum of four months. The scholarships are included tuition fee, living cost, book fee, meals, and roundtrip airfare.
I sincerely hope that the director of NITR will reply this email and thank you for reading this message.
Sincerely yours,
3. Kita in the correct time, bahwa memang kita tepat bisa masuk ke sana.

I will introduce myself,
My name is Yani Mulyani
I am 33 years old
I have married and have two kids
For now, I am a 6th semester student in the doctoral program ITB, that have pass qualification test for doctoral program, and had seminar report progress for three times from 4 report progress. I had been finishing my project dissertation for about 75%.
Today, I will answer the question that asked to me about the program that I will follow in National Institute Tuberculosis Research , Chennai , India that will be very benefit to finishing my study.
1. What motivate you to study in NITR, Chennai? (motivasinya apa?)

About NITR by themselves, we can read ant NITR web, and we found all the activity from NITR are exposed in the Standard operation Procedure.
7. How do you think the field of study benefit Indonesia?
My study at NITR will be very benefit for Indonesia; recently, tuberculosis in Indonesia is 5th in world. Emergence of multi-drug resistant (MDR) and extensively-drug resistant (XDR) strains of M. Tuberculosis has further complicated the problem of tuberculosis (TB) control. So, development of new anti TB with the right method would be very beneficial for our country.
It will gain a new atmosphere for the other researches in Indonesia to continue the research find the new drug for TB with the beneficial method that reasonable from variety of factor including the costs.
8. How important is the study for NITR, Chennai?
Very important to finish my dissertation, especially to isolate he compound that responsibility for the activity of MTB with the laboratory that acceptable, new method that valuable to small compound, and the guide from the expert who had been done it before.
9. How confident are you about your chance to finish the study on time?

Recently, Tuberculosis in Indonesia is 5th ranked in the world. It is very relates between Indonesia and India priority development area.
13. Apart from academic matters, how do you think studying in NITR, Chennai benefit you?
I had read about South India culture, that the people, who come to South of India, are from around the India, they live in the place with the harmony. Also, the people of India are good in education, Indian students have the high spirit of education , and they trusted by world organizational such as WHO. I will learn much of India culture that useful from me to teach my student in Indonesia.
14. How are you going to interact with NITR, Chennain people, considering that you have different cultural background?

18. Is there anything that you want to ask, add or comment?
I really hope to get a scholarship this sandwich. Specific reason for the dissertation completion, and for general reason is development of the DST for more updates antimycobacteria test for research in Indonesia.
Bagaimana wawancaranya???
Hehehe, ternyata hanya beberapa pertanyaan yang ditanya?
1. Are you sure to living at Chennai?
2. How you make this fee calculation?
3. What your purpose of this scholarship?
There is someting that i will remind this always...
Q: What is your outpout?
A: Output-nya is publish international journal
Tau kan mana yang salah ??
Hehehehe... Apesss banget wawancara pake bahasa campuran, tapi anyway.. Still lulus, karena the most important untuk lulus adalah:
1. Kepastian LOA adalah loa puntuk nama sendiri.
2. Kepastikan proposal riset yang jelas, berikut pre, in and post process.
Yani :

Dear Dr. Katoch
Yani Mulyani is a doctoral student of school of pharmacy, Bandung Institute of Technology, Indonesia .
She wants to visit NIRT and get trained in culture and DST as apart of her fellowship associated scholarship.
She is bringing her plant extracts to test for anti TB activity and will submit a dissertation project report at the end of four months
She comes with her own funding for accommodation and travel.
I request you to kindly permit us to go ahead with the training for her which is likely to commence from July-November 2012.
Dr. Vanaja Kumar
Alhamdulilah, dapet pembimbing yang support, hingga akhirnya terjadi missuderstanding, yaitu:
So... Inilah kejadiannya..
Inilah story dimana terjadi begitu banyak hal...
Story pertama, permohonan ke pihak ITB..
Dear Yani,
I am given to understand that any foreign student should get the clearance from Indian ministry (ours being a central government institute) through ICMR. This should be initiated from the organisation the student is attached to.
Kindly send the documents requested(as mentioned in the mail sent by Harpreet Sandhu of ICMR) to ICMR directly from your institute duely forwarded by your authorities.
Please be quick.

Dengan Hormat,
Saya, Yani Mulyani, salah satu mahasiswa program doktor, semester 6 tahun ajaran 2011/2012 dibawah bimibingan Prof. Elin Yulinah, Dr. I Ketut Adnyana dan Dr. Elfahmi.
V.M. KATOCH , SECRETARY (DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH RESEARCH) & DIRECTOR GENERAL di email vishwamohan_katoch@yahoo.co.in , dan pembimbing NIRT Dr. Vanaja Kumar , vanaja_kumar51@yahoo.co.in
Dear Yani,
I am travelling. Kindly send the details requested to Rashmi Arora, chief, ECD division, ICMR and all those copy marked in this mail, quickly. I know you have sent all these and more. Instead of asking them to look for it, it is better to send the details again.

STORY ke 4, inilah jawaban dari Vanaja kumar
Dear Dr.Rashmi,
Obviously, only the candidate can provide the details. I have not fixed the date of training either. It was their option.
Being a ICMR scientist, I am unable to understand the procedures involved. It is too complicated.
Yang terbaik itu yang akan mama lakukan, salah satunya mengikuti seminar Internasional di Kulalumpur tgl 12 November 2012, berkumpul bersama 129 negara lain dan hanya membahas satu topik desertasi mama yaitu TUBERCULOSIS, dan hebatnya lagi, MAMA accepted to be one of partivipant who will be presenting the research report
Terima kasih Ya ALLAH.
